RAM is a misnomer
I think RAM should have been called AAM instead, for "Arbitrary Access Memory". To me, at least, "random access" means that there exists a module (physical and/or logical) sitting in front of the memory, which randomizes access to memory locations. As in "I will retrieve a value from a random location, despite where you told me to look!"
