Firefox.exe on desktop (instead of shortcut)

During a Firefox update issued around November 2025, I noticed that my long-standing Firefox shortcut on my desktop had changed name to Firefox.exe.

Looking into it, it turned out that the shortcut was replaced by an executable, that's not a "firefox launcher"-type application.

I didn't like Firefox's "extras", so I deleted Firefox.exe from my desktop and manually created a shortcut to firefox.exe (whose installation directory might be located in C:\Program Files or in C:\Program Files (x86)) - without any issues.
